D. S. Rao, Ph.D., is a literary critic, editor, author, translator, and teacher of English literature, and a former editor of Indian Literature.
His published works include, besides numerous literary and academic articles, Practical Literary Criticism, Manahor Malgonkar: A Study of His Complete Fiction, and Five Decades: A Short History of Sahitya Akademi.
In 2003, his English translation of Gopichand’s Asamardhuni Jivayatra, The Bungler, was hailed as ‘a milestone’ by Professor M. Sivaramakrishna, a distinguished writer, equally at home in Telugu and English.
